Winning an Oscar for best actor/actress does not always guarantee that one will make the best professional decisions following their feat. In Adrien Brody's case, there's a King Kong for every The Pianist, and if you're Jamie Foxx, there's a Stealth for every Ray. So, what's one way big screen talent can avoid a flop after being anointed the 'king' or 'queen' of Hollywood for a year? The answer is quite simple ' you team up with the best.
According to THR, Jean Dujardin, who is fresh off taking home the Oscar in the best actor category for his work in The Artist, has entered negotiations to join the cast of the Martin Scorsese directed The Wolf of Wall Street. Assuming Dujardin comes aboard the project, he will be joining the tandem of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill ' both Oscar nominated actors, in their own rights ' DiCaprio for Blood Diamond and Hill for his work in Moneyball.
The official synopsis for The Wolf of Wall Street reads as follows:
A New York stockbroker refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, corporate banking world and mob infiltration.
DiCaprio will play the film's main character Jordan Belfort ' the man whose autobiography the film is based on ' while Hill will play Danny Porush, Belfort's best friend and business partner, who is convinced by Belfort to quit his job in furniture sales to join him in the lucrative and tantalizing world of stock brokering. Dujardin is up for the part of Swiss banker Jean-Jacques Handali who was convicted of money laundering..
DiCaprio certainly seems to have taken over as Scorsese's new Robert De Niro (De Niro and Scorsese teamed up countless times during Scorsese's rise to power. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, etc.), as this will mark the fifth time to two heavy-hitters have joined forces.

Whether or not this will turn out to be a 'one time and done' type of partnership for Martin Scorsese, who many regard (including this writer) as the best director alive, and Jean Dujardin remains to be seen. The first step, of course, is getting Dujardin's name in ink for the project. Perhaps, then, Dujardin will become Scorsese's new Leonardo DiCaprio. Who knows? The good news is. it's appearing more and more like there will be no King Kong remakes or Stealth's in Jean Dujardin's future. Not if Martin Scorsese has anything to do with it.
The Wolf of Wall Street will begin filming this August in New York. No release date has yet been announced.
